Kinetic Typography
All Star by the alternative group, Smashmouth, is a funky, energetic rock song from the 90's. The kinetic typography sequence pieced together reflects the aura of the song. The design of the video is centralized around the concept of Smashmouth's Astro Lounge album cover and that the song is titled All Star.
The scenes are set in space and to string all of the frames together, there is an alien version of the lead singer, Steve Harwell, as well as other similar illustrations flying through the frames. The different lyrics come into the frame in a variety of methods to mirror the funk and dynamic nature of the song. Once coming on the screen, the text continues to interact with the song using different effects and rotations to visually represent the beat of the music.
